Vanessa Furlong
Registered Counselling Therapist – Candidate
I am passionate about providing care for Neurodivergent clients, and I have dedicated much of my career in Disability Arts—and now as a counsellor—to a collaborative exploration of increasing access, increasing self-expression, and celebrating autonomy and interdependent community connections. As an AuDHD practitioner, I bring lived experience in adaptation exploration and self-discovery work to our sessions.

I am a Registered Counselling Therapist - Candidate based in Nova Scotia. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from the Yorkville University and Bachelor of Arts in creative performance from Bishops University.
I practice a person-centred, trauma-informed, neuro-affirming, and queer-affirming approach. I recognize that there are many parts to each of us, and many parts to our stories. Therefore my collaborative work with clients is not centred on “fixing" but on witnessing the different parts of yourself, and finding harmony from within to live well.
I offer a unique background in both clinical settings and in the expressive creative arts for those looking to balance the benefits of structure with the joy of creative and authentic self-expression. My eclectic approach is informed by IFS Parts Work, DBT, ACT, Humanistic & Person-Centered, EFT, and creative arts. I have found that an approach that is integrative and client-led is best.
I offer individual therapy to youth ages 12+ and adults of all ages, as well as attachment-based relationship counselling to couples and polycules.
Outside of my professional role, I am an avid runner, cyclist, and enjoy connecting with my expressive arts community.
